Nothing beats pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving! This is true, but how about a chocolate alternative that is easy to put together (dump and mix) and easy to transport? Are you in? This humble slice of yumminess has won the hearts of my family and fetched high dollars at auctions. It can’t be beat! I’ll let you in on my *hack*–I mean–secret.

Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Pie

1 store bought pie crust

2 eggs

1/2 C. flour

1/2 C. sugar

1/2 C. brown sugar

3/4 C. softened butter

6 oz. (1 cup)  Nestle semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Whipped cream or ice cream for toppings, if desired

DIRECTIONS:

1)Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2)Let refrigerated pie crust rest at room temperature according to package directions.

3)Meanwhile, throw remaining ingredients except chocolate chips in a medium sized mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips.

4)Line 8″ or 9″ pie plate with crust.

5)Pour pie filling into crust. Spread evenly.

6)Place in oven and bake for 55-60 minutes. Pie is done when top of pie doesn’t jiggle and is a deep golden brown. Knife inserted in center of pie should come out clean (will be buttery).

Serve with whipped topping or ice cream, if desired. It’s good either warm or room temperature. It doesn’t need refrigeration.
