Jar gifts are easy to make and give. They are also wonderful to receive. Here are 4 ideas I found to help with last minute gift-giving for a hostess, teacher, neighbor or anyone. Two recipes are sweet and two are savory but ALL are delicious!

Be sure to print out instructions to the recipient as to how to prepare their mix. Attach to a tag or recipe card and put on a string to tie around jar. Let’s dive in!

Christmas Marbled Mint Bark Mix

JAR # 1: Christmas Marbled Mint Bark Mix (recipe by PILcookbooks.com) makes one quart jar

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/4 C. green mint chips (I could only find Nestle’ mint chips in green/chocolate color combo)
  • 1 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 C. white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 to 3/4 C. red, green and white mint sprinkles (I used plain sprinkles, not mint flavored)

DIRECTIONS TO MAKE THE JAR GIFT:

  1. Pour 1/3 C. mint chips into a 1-quart wide-mouth jar with tight-fitting lid. Add 1/3 C. semi-sweet chips and 1/3 C. white chips. Repeat two more times, then pour in remaining mint chips.
  2. Place large square of plastic food wrap in a jar, with corners extending over edge of jar. Add mint sprinkles, gently pushing sprinkles and film to side of jar to eliminate air space. Fold corners of film over sprinkles. Seal jar.
  3. Cover top of jar with fabric. Attach gift tag to jar with raffia or ribbon.

**Note: I omitted step 2. Instead,  I poured the sprinkles in a sandwich-sized zipper style bag, cut off the zipper to leave a open-topped bag. I taped it shut and then taped the little packet on the top of the jar. Decorate.

INSTRUCTIONS TO GIVE TO THE RECIPIENT:

Christmas Marbled Mint Bark Mix

Needed: 1 jar Christmas Marbled Mint Bark Mix

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove colored sprinkles from jar; set aside.
  2. Spread remaining contents of jar in single layer on baking sheet (avoid large gaps between chips). Place in oven 2 to 3 minutes until chips look glossy and have softened. Immediately remove from oven and use spatula to glide over chips once to marble slightly and spread into thin 14×10-inch sheet. (Don’t overmix or marbled effect will be lost.) Immediately top evenly with reserved sprinkles.
  3. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Break into 1-to 1 1/2-inch pieces. To store, place waxed paper between single layers of bark; place in airtight container in refrigerator.

This is how mine turned out. Not only was it super easy to make (both the jar and the recipe itself) but it was also fantastic to eat!
