Here is a decadent chocolate dessert sure to please. It’s also very easy to make, with only 3 ingredients. I’ll give you all the steps to create this smooth and creamy goodness.
For a unique Mother’s Day idea, take a trip to your local antique store and pick up beautiful dessert cups like these shown. I scored these Depression glass cups for $1.50 each at my local store. Who wouldn’t appreciate a set of gorgeous antique dessert cups? Look for tea cups or ramekins–anything that would strike her fancy. Fill dishes with delicious mousse to serve after a nice dinner and let her keep the cups. I can’t be in the same city as my mother on Mother’s Day but maybe you can. She will love this delicious–and unique–gift.
Candy Bar Chocolate Mousse (recipe by ideastimestwo.com) makes about 6 servings (1/2 cup each)
2 (4.25 oz.) candy bars (any kind, I used Hershey’s milk chocolate Symphony bars)
2/3 cup dairy heavy whipping cream
16 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed ( you will not use all of it)
A handful of chocolate chips to make decorations (optional)
Chop candy bars into small chunks and place in a small bowl. In a microwavable bowl, heat heavy cream in microwave until almost boiling. Take out of microwave and pour over chocolate chunks. Let stand for a couple of minutes. Stir mixture until chocolate is completely melted and combined. Let cool. Transfer to a medium sized bowl and stir to loosen. Add 4 cups of whipped topping and gently fold into chocolate. Fold by scooping the bottom, fold up toward to the side of the bowl and up over the top. Continue until completely mixed. Done! Swirl into glasses. Top with a dollop of whipped topping. To make chocolate circles, add a handful of chocolate chips to a small plastic zip top bag and melt in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Add more time, if necessary. Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and squeeze chocolate out in swirls on wax paper. Let cool and harden in refrigerator. Add to top of whipped topping to decorate. This is so yummy. Enjoy!
